"" MarketingProfs Book Club: FAQs

Ever read a book and wanted to discuss or debate it with other marketers? Now you can. Or ask the author a question? Now you can do that, too. Offering a free-flow of ideas--and some FREE books--our book club keeps you ahead of the marketing curve and provides an arena to (virtually) meet the best minds in marketing ... all from the comfort of your own home, or office. It\'s old media (books) meets new media (the Web) meets new best practices--with CK as your host.

All marketing all the time, the book club will cover a wide range of marketing topics with our opening lineup boasting such sizzling luminaries as Ben McConnell, Jackie Huba, Al & Laura Ries, Chip & Dan Heath and many more to be announced. We\'ll review new books, older books that never got their due and pre-releases, too.

Here\'s how it works:

1 Kick-off: Every two months a new book is announced through an Author Q&A published in our main newsletter, MarketingProfs Today, and at the MarketingProfs
Daily Fix blog and the MarketingProfs Know-How Exchange discussion forum. Each segment, 50 Book Club members are randomly selected to receive a free book -- but an unlimited number of people can take part in the club. (Books are usually under $30, with many under $20.)

2 Read: Members are given approximately 5 to 6 weeks to read each book, and to allow time for book mailings.

3 Group Review: In the MarketingProfs discussion forum we discuss the book\'s themes, ask questions of the author(s)--and each other--as well as rank the book. It\'s all sorts of democratic like that.

Have questions? Here\'s a list of FAQs:

Why form a virtual book club? To share new best practices and bring marketers closer together. In fact you\'ll likely find that you\'ll learn as much from other marketer\'s insights during the group review as you will from reading the books.

Which topics does the book club cover? It\'s all marketing, all the time. We\'ll feature a wide range of books spanning an array of topics within the discipline including: strategy, branding, positioning, PR, social media, customer research, customer segmentation and so on, and some more. Have a topic or a book you would like to see featured? Please send your suggestions to:
bookclub@marketingprofs.com.

How do I sign up for the club? You can subscribe to the Book Club mailing list
here.

What book are you currently reading? Information on our current segment, along with an Author Q&A, is
located here. Information on books covered in past segments is located here, here and here.

How do I get a free, author-signed book? For each new book, 50 members are selected from all those on the Book Club mailing list with complete mailing addresses in their member profiles. Each subscriber with a mailing address on file has an equal chance to receive a free book (so don\'t forget to include your FULL mailing address so we know where to send your book if your name is drawn!). Yes, books can be sent internationally (many times e-books are the best format to ensure you don\'t experience mailing delays). And no, we don\'t charge you mailing fees.

How many segments are held in the Book Club annually? Definitely 6 but we may be able to squeeze in 8. Stay tuned.

Do you only cover BIG name authors? We cover big ideas not just big names. Books range the well-known thought leaders and the up-and-comers, male authors, female authors and co-authors. Newly launched books and books that never got their due. And some pre-releases, too!

If I don\'t qualify for a FREE book, can I still buy the book and join the fun? But of course! While we\'ll work on getting more than 30 free books for each segment, an unlimited number of people can participate. All books are competitively priced, most under $30...and many under $20!

Can I suggest a book to be featured in a segment? Absolutely! We encourage your suggestions--please send them to:
bookclub@marketingprofs.com.

Is this only for the U.S.? No way ... it\'s the WORLD Wide Web, after all. The free books can be shipped near and far, however they will be printed in English, and we suggest that an e-book might be the best method to get the book to you in time for Group Review.
""

Who is CK?

CK (short for Christina Kerley) is the host and "Chief Reading Officer" of MarketingProfs, in charge of facilitating the Book Club. An avid reader of all things marketing and of bringing marketers together to share best practices, she has a
marketing business and contributes articles to MarketingProfs Daily Fix Blog, as well as blogs in her own corner here.

How long does the Group Review period run? How does it work? The review process runs approximately 5-10 days. Readers who have subscribed to receive Book Club announcements will be directed to the MarketingProfs discussion forum to discuss the book\'s themes, ask questions of the author--and each other--as well as review and rate the book. To see Group Review in action, just
go here.

How long do I have to read the book? Each time we kick-off a new segment we give members 5-6 weeks to read the book and to allow time for book mailings. We\'ll remind you a couple weeks ahead of time, via e-mail, to remind you to get your books read.

How do you know I\'ve read the book? It\'s called the honor system and we\'re all honorable. We do ask if you receive a free book that you take part in the group review...it wouldn\'t be the same without you (and your smarts).

Are you guys profiting from book sales? Is there some hidden agenda here? Nope, no hidden agenda. In fact our agenda is out in the open: we\'re spreading knowledge and facilitating a share of insights. And we\'re not playing favorites either--authors cannot work for MarketingProfs or be contributing authors to the MarketingProfs Daily Fix blog. We do have one disclaimer, though: authors and fellow members may use your great feedback from the review in their presentations and press materials...much like when you submit feedback to Amazon. So your name just may be in lights!

I have a question or a recommendation for a book to be featured in the future, how do I submit it? Fellow Marketers, Publishers, Publicists and Authors are welcome to contact us with inquiries as well as make recommendations for featured books. Please contact us via email at:
bookclub@marketingprofs.com.

Still have questions? Please just submit your question to:
bookclub@marketingprofs.com

Join in the knowledge share and find out what this buzz over books is all about...Happy </city>
</place>
Reading (and sharing!)
